Sime Darby Interview

Only yesterday, i was told that i was shortlisted for Sime Darby's Third Level scholarship interview, and off all days, the interview is today.
I was horrified.
Tomorrow interview today you tell???

And it was 8.30 in the morning till 12, and i had to skip two classes in college. Wtf!!
And the worst part of it all, was of course the interview itself.
There were seven of us in one session, and i was told that there are about 15 other sessions on other days other times. Roughly 100 in total surviving till round 3.

So the seven of us were put in one room, briefed on the day's programme, and were promptly sent to our respective rooms for assessment.

ROUND 1
Each of us were isolated in separate rooms, given pencils, mahjong paper, testpad, tapes, marker pens, a calculator, and a company portfolio.
Within 30 minutes, we were supposed to analyse the portfolio, and prepare a 15 minute presentation on the company as a marketing executive speaking to a business director (our assessors). And hell it was difficult!
I mean, i just came out from the textbooks, and there i was stuck with a portfolio expected to deliver a full presentation on mahjong paper on business for 15 minutes??
I was like, oh shit, i'm in the wrong place.
And the presentation, as expected, did not go well.

ROUND 2
Now all 7 of us were put together for a group discussion, which was a board meeting simulation. Again we were given portfolios on the situations of three manufacturing plants throughout Malaysia of the same company in round 1, and were expected to discuss as a group to finally decide which manufacturing plant to shut down, considering the circumstances.
And again, i went, wtf??
We were given data on stock turnovers, redundancy packages and stuff like that and off we went, crapping our way out the little predicament we got ourselves into.
All of us were science students, and all of us were equally 'mesmerised' by the folios.
It was pretty intense.

ROUND 3
This time, we were separated each into our own room, and were given yet another portfolio. This round is what they supposedly call 'role-play' and we were acting as a staff of the human resource department and were supposed to convince a 'stubborn' worker on several issues that were not at all easy to settle.
Our task was to convince that worker on human resource issues within 20 minutes. This time it wasn't so difficult because it was more to the application of persuasive skills and other skills such as lets-see-how-quick-you-can-come-up-with-some-crap-to-convince-me skills.


All the three rounds took about 3 hours, ended at 12.
And resulting me to enter chemistry class one hour late, not to mention skipping econs and maths. There was no thrill, just an interview loaded with business/economics/market stuff which completely freaked me out!
